Comparative Social Research

About the yearbook

Comparative Social Research (CoSR) was originally established in the USA in 1978, where it was first edited by Richard Tomasson at the University of New Mexico and later Craig Calhoun at the University of North Carolina. In 1995, the editorship was moved to the Department of Sociology at the University of Oslo, Norway, and the Institute for Social Research, an independent research foundation, also located in Oslo.

The yearbook aims at furthering a cross-disciplinary, comparative international perspective. Each volume is concentrated on a specific topic, mostly of substantive, but also of methodological character. Previous volumes have covered topics such as labour mobility, gender segregation, social stratification, firms, boards and gender quotas, civil society, armed conflicts, and more.

The yearbook is published by Emerald Group Publishing.
