Project period 2007–2009
Project nr. 415.101

This project focus on transnational mobilization, as well as the impact of new forms of association for integration in a new country. There is a potential for tensions as a result of that we are living in a society, but the interest and involvement is elsewhere. The issues are: What influence does transnational networks based on the collective identity and common interests, for political mobilization among young adults with minority backgrounds? The purpose is to identify and analyze the consequence of any antagonism between belonging to the community you are living, and belonging to transnational communities. The relationship between young adults of immigrant origin and the transnational is relevant because many young people, with their upbringing experiences from a new context, often located in a current relationship with parents cultural background, they orientate themselves like using global communication and they have grown up in a media landscape that offers a wide range of different impulses for identification and mobilization. The project main focus will be on three empirical case: antirasisme, religion and hip-hop.
