The European Migration Forum was established by an expert group at the Institute for Social Research in 2007. In 2008 its activities were expanded and focused on a broader seminar "Towards a Common European Asylum System - Consequences for Norway". Here governement representatives, NGOs and the research community participated in and informed debate.
The goal of the Forum is to encourage the debate on the issue of closer EU cooperation in the migration field. A cross-diciplinary approach (law and social science) lies at the core of its operations.
