ISF/NIM Seminar October 12th: Ukrainian refugees in the Nordics – Policies, dilemmas, and outcomes

The Institute for Social Research and The Nordic Institute for Migration invite you to a comparative Nordic seminar on the reception, integration and return of Ukrainian refugees.

Due to technical problems, streaming stopped before the seminar was finished. Watch the three parts that were streamed here.

Close to 200 000 Ukrainian refugees have received protection in the Nordic countries since Russia’a full-scale invasion of the Ukraine in February 2022. This is by far the largest influx of refugees to the region in recent history. How have the Nordic countries tackled the reception, settlement, integration, and potential return of this record number of refugees?

At this seminar, leading migration experts explore the challenges and strategies of refugee reception in Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Finland, and Norway through presentations and Q/A sessions. You will hear among others:

  • Professor Thomas Gammeltoft-Hansen, University of Copenhagen
  • Professor Jesper Lindholm, University of Aalborg
  • Professor Rebecca Thorburn Stern, University of Uppsala
  • Research Director Jan-Paul Brekke, Institute of Social Research, Oslo
  • Comments from Pål Nesse, NOAS/NRC

Please join us in our discussions of pressing issues surrounding the reception, integration, and experiences of Ukrainian refugees in the Nordics.

Welcome!
